Director of Performance is American Council of Exercise Certified in Personal Training with double undergraduate majors in History and Sociology

We currently have alumni athletes competing at the following NCAA schools in the 2015-2016 Season:

University of Colorado-Boulder, Colorado State University, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University-Pueblo, Adams State University, Colorado Mesa University, Utah State University, University of Tulsa, Lafayette College, Linfield College, University of Notre Dame, Oklahoma State University, University of Vermont, University of Montana, Yale University

  EVOLVE

At Evolve we live, train, teach and mentor with a no limits attitude. With positive thinking and the right strategies, you can attain all goals and dreams you have for yourself.

Every person that participates in the training we provide can benefit. Whether you’re an elite athlete trying to elevate your game, a fitness enthusiast, trying to strengthen your body and endurance for the next Warrior Dash or Tough Mudder, are a road runner, or just want a great workout to kick out the stress of day and activate the release of feel-good chemicals in your brain, Evolve can get you there.

We train by winning from the inside out using Applied Sport Psychology.

We teach Biomechanics to get your body in the most advantageous positions for optimal training and performance.

We use a balanced multilateral approach to training the Five Biomotor Abilities- Speed, Strength, Skill/Coordination, Flexibility, and Endurance.

We pre-test and post-test after training in the 40 yard Dash, Vertical Jump, Broad Jump, 5-10-5 Pro Agility, Squat, and 300-yard shuttle.

The phrase "Iron Sharpens Iron" is grounded in fact within the concept of Group Dynamics in Social Psychology. We screen our participants, so that focused, hard working, driven, character participants draw off one another and contribute to an elite group synergy to the training environment, and life in general with dedication to exceptional performance in employment and academics, and positive social actions and behavior in their lives. The effects of having participants with said personality traits training together and drawing off another cannot be overemphasized.

SPEED, AGILITY, QUICKNESS TRAINING

We train Speed by utilizing Sprints Drills, Sprints over varying distances to train first step, acceleration, transition, maximum velocity, and speed maintenance phases of sprinting. We also implement resisted runs, assisted runs.

We train Multi-Directional Speed/Agility, training deceleration, body awareness, and footwork, utilizing agility ladders, agility drills and patterns, using both Open and Closed Skills training.

We train Quickness by utilizing drills to  decrease reaction time and total response time, including both simple response time (reacting to planned movement) and choice reaction and chaotic patterns that mimic the unpredictable environment found in the sporting arena and enhance mental processing time.

INTEGRATED STRENGTH TRAINING

Force application is critical to being able to run faster, jump higher, throwing and swinging further and getting Stronger. At Evolve our Integrated Strength Program is paramount in our success of training athletes.

Our Integrated strength training includes core cevelopment training, balance & proprioceptive training, stabilization strength, maximal strength, and power training including Olympic Lifting Exercises, and Explosive Strength Exercises, and the Incorporation of Multiple throws training using medicine balls/shot puts.

Our Strength Program includes a triphasic approach to muscle contraction types of concentric, eccentric and isometric at a 75:18:12 ratio. We also use contrast and complex methods to increase neural potentiation.

Also included in our Strength Program is Plyometrics including Concentric Jumps and Bounds, Concentric-Eccentric hopping and bounding,  and “Shock Method” drops into Jumps/Bounds/Sprints.

MOTOR LEARNING AND MOTOR CONTROL

Motor learning and control focuses on processes that govern movement acquisition and control. Motor learning is involved in refining motor skills that promote skills acquisition. Motor control is the neural, physical, and behavioral aspects that underlie movement. We train to improve both gross and fine motor skills. We utilize training of Open Skills where the environment and pattern is predictable, and Closed Skills in which skills are performed in a ever-changing environment. We try to implement a training implement such as a sports ball into the training and working on skill whether that be rebounding a basketball, catching a football, kicking a soccer ball for skill development for outside sports.

NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SPORTS MEDICINE APPROACH

A great deal of our training is derived directly from the National Academy of Sports Medicine's training protocols.

All movement occurs in three planes of movement (The Saggital Plane, the Frontal plane, and The Tranverse plane). We train in all three planes of movement both in warm ups, speed-agility-quickness training, and strength training. We also implement balance and proprioceptive training both unloaded and with resistance training to increase neuromuscular efficiency, and improve postural and joint stability.

Keeping athletes in the game

Erik Phillips helped establish team and individual protocols for the NASM and drastically decreased the injury rate during his tenure as the Phoenix Suns Strength and Conditioning coach:

Practices lost due to injury / games lost due to injury:

Phoenix: 45/32          NBA average: 49/109

APPLIED SPORT PSYCHOLOGY

We utilize techniques from Sports Psychology theories in our approach to training. This includes using mental skill strategies to increase motivation, determination, mood, optimism, confidence and assisting in emotional and psychological balance, and ‘Drive Theory’ which is grounded upon the relationship between arousal and increased performance. We also utilize Self-Talk and Imagery techniques.

HIGH SCHOOL TRAINING

When scheduling allows for it, we also coach for public high school varsity athletics programs.

Youth Training

At Evolve, we offer Sports Performance and Fitness Training to athletes 6th grade and above, implementing training programs that take into account both biological and training age.

We organize exercise activities for parents while the athlete's train. We offer walking groups, self-supervised body weight training including Tabata workouts (40-second maximal intensity-20 seconds rest and 20-second maximal intensity-10 seconds rest), 2 minutes on-1 minute off routines, general strength, aerobics, and mobility training, charge free.

Group Fitness and Personal Training

Join a group exercise class or sign up for personal training to get in shape. Training is functional to carry over to Road Races and Obstacle course runs. Increased Strength and Speed are great for improving distance running ability by improving Running Economy.

Increase Metabolic Function and Endocrine Profile. Increase your metabolism to burn calories faster. It takes a lot of energy to exercise, but once you begin, you’ll find that you have increased energy through an improved endocrine profile and metabolism.

Give yourself a "feel good" boost psychologically and change your brain neuro-chemistry. Exercise increases activity in circuits of the brain that use the neuro-chemical dopamine (the key neurotransmitter in the brain's pleasure and reward centers), and serotonin (helps put the brakes on the brain's stress response). According to a University of Kansas Department of Psychology program, the "Therapeutic Lifestyle Change" program, 30-45 mins of exercise three-time times a week was as effective or more effective than the anti-depressant drug, Zoloft, in participating subjects who had depression.
